Flow Simulation Study for Duct System Optimization in HVAC Applications
Developed and optimized a 3D HVAC duct system using SolidWorks and Flow Simulation, focusing on improving airflow quality and reducing system pressure losses. The study involved setting up detailed CFD models, including boundary conditions, turbulence models, mesh refinement, and internal flow parameters. Analyzed pressure distribution, velocity fields, recirculation zones, and turbulence intensity to identify design inefficiencies affecting airflow performance. Based on simulation insights, refined duct geometry and connector transitions, achieving an estimated ~25% reduction in pressure drop, improved flow uniformity, and enhanced system energy efficiency.
