Product Innovation Portfolio – Desk Side Storage Solutions | Digital Manufacturing

This project focused on designing an improved desk-side storage system by combining customer research, engineering analysis, and manufacturing optimization. I began by conducting market research and user interviews to understand pain points with existing organizers. The findings highlighted three major issues: limited adjustability, poor load-bearing capability, and inefficiency in space utilization. These insights guided the development of an engineered solution that addresses both functional and usability challenges.

Using SolidWorks for CAD modeling and ANSYS for stress, strain, and fatigue simulations, I evaluated structural performance under real-world loading scenarios. The analysis enabled material optimization that increased product durability by approximately 25% while simultaneously reducing material usage and overall cost by around 10%. I then developed a full Design for Manufacturing (DFM) plan, focusing on simplified part geometry, reduced assembly steps, and improved moldability for mass production.

The final design offered a 20% faster production cycle and opened opportunities for a 15% revenue increase through direct sales and bulk commercial orders. This project demonstrates my ability to take a product from research and concept development through engineering analysis, design refinement, manufacturability assessment, and business impact evaluation.
